The remake on Youtube New remake episode also begins with an interview of Edward De Souza, who played Marc Cory in the original episode.
Its 54 years since the original episode was broadcast on the BBC so the remake has been made and released timely to coincide with the 54th anniversary.
The original Hartnell episode – itself, shown in 1965 is missing from the BBC archive and a visual copy has never been traced.
It serves as something of a one-episode prequel to the later truncated epic “The Dalek Masterplan”, which was shown in the following season.
Neither the First Doctor (William Hartnell) or any of the companions feature. Instead, it picks up the story of a group of stranded astronauts on an alien planet; attempting to outwit the Daleks and foil their “masterplan”.
