“Where is my father?….Is he….dead?” Victoria – Evil Of The Daleks
Victorian in space.
Victoria Waterford (played by Deborah Watling), was an Earth girl – from the strict regimes of 19th Century England.
She was the daughter of scientist – Edward Waterford. Waterford came to the Dalek’s attention, with his crude Victorian time-travel experiments in The Evil Of The Daleks – 1967.
The Daleks, looking to steal and capitalise on Waterford’s research, kidnapped Victoria. Waterford was eventually mortally wounded by the Daleks – and prior to dying, asked the Second Doctor to take Victoria into his care.
Being a Victorian girl, Victoria didn’t settle too well, into the nomadic time-travelling lifestyle. Although, she did grow close to fellow-companion – Jamie.
Victoria sometimes found, the horrors that she encountered – too much. However, she had a keen mind and looked to educate fellow- comapnion Jamie; with knowledge and social ettiquette.
After the Daleks incursion; came the Doctor’s other mortal nemesis – The Cybermen in Tomb Of The Cybermen – 1967.
Victoria left at the end of Fury Of The Deep -1968 deciding to opt instead, for the relatively quiet (and modern) life of 20th Century England; over her 19th Century upbringing.
