Ex-Who producer Derek Sherwin has died at the age of 82.
Sherwin’s Who producer stint was the shortest of all, with only 2 serials. Sherwin saw out Patrick Troughton’s era, with his final adventure; The War Games. Before producing the new incoming (first colour) Third Doctor’s adventure; Spearhead From Space.
After Doctor Who, Sherwin left the BBC and started his own production company. During the 1980’s when Doctor Who was threatened with being axed. Sherwin made two rejected offers to the BBC to buy the rights to the show.
