Showings of Classic Who are a bit thin on the ground these days, which is odd considering the popularity of the show and recent 50th anniversary.
Classic Doctor Who has been missing from our screens here in the UK, ever since UK Gold stopped regularly showing them.
BBC 4 would sometimes show the odd episode. Such as An Unearthly Child during the 50th Anniversary last year, or The Hand Of Fear after the 2011 death of actress Elizabeth Sladen. Netflix also pulled most of their collection and only show a small number now.
Well all that is about to change as the Horror Channel (Sky channel 319) have just gained the coup of the year, by securing the rights to show classic episodes of Doctor Who.
They will begin broadcasting them from Easter, showing episodes from the classic years – 1963 to 1989 featuring all 7 of the original Doctors.
As the First Doctor once remarked “Some day I shall return….”It seems somewhat apt.
Classic Doctor Who premiers on Horror Channel (UK) this Easter. Are you excited?
