Actress Kate O’ Mara (The Rani) Dies

Its with great sadness that we report the passing of Doctor Who actress – Kate O’ Mara; who has died – aged 74.

O’ Mara played the strong and forthright Timelord villain – “The Rani”; in 2 episodes of the series in 1985 & 1987.

The Mark Of The Rani and Time And The Rani, saw O’Mara battle Colin Baker and newly regenerated replacement Sylvester McCoy.

Rani, which means “Queen” in Hindu was intended as a female replacement for The Master character; before the Master was brought back – to partner The Rani in Mark Of The Rani.

The Rani also had a brief appearance in the 1993 Children In Need special Dimensions In Time.
