Review With Spoilers : The Seeds Of Death, is a reasonably watchable Troughton number, featuring the returning Ice Warriors.

The Doctor, Jamie and Zoey travel to Earth, where they learn that the T-Mat personnel transporter base – on the moon, has stopped working.

The Doctor offers to pilot a rocket, up to the moon to check out the problem – and offer his expertise. This is a bit silly though, as to why the Doctor didn’t just take the Tardis. What if a there was a problem with either the rocket – or the T-Mat device – to get them back?

The Seeds Of Death also features, the last true villainous turn by the Ice Warriors. In the post-Pertwee era, the Warriors made peace with the Earth and (officially) devoted their energies to protecting the galaxy. (A kind of U.N. in space, if you will!) in The Monster and The Curse Of Peladon.

Also, we learn that the Ice Warriors – have something of a hierachy, with the warriors being more lowly – to the more senior ‘Ice Lords’ – who look slightly less bulky – and wear a different style of helmet.

“Your leader will be angry if you kill me! I’m a genius….!” The Doctor

When the seeds are finally released on Earth, their germination looks suspiciously like foaming soap suds. The problem with this is; they dwell on this – in a specific cliffhanger, when the Doctor is nearly drowned in them. We’ve also seen this effect used before, for the foaming seaweed, in Fury From The Deep.

Other than that, if you are a fan of the Ice Warriors – you’ll want to watch it just for them. On the whole though, it’s an average one and the story doesn’t follow a logical peogression.
